Kehel: Troubleshooting – User Help

Using Kehel for the first time

Please make sure you read the instructions first about Joy ON Kehel device in the ‘User manual’ that was included in the packaging.
After that, we have prepared for you very useful explanations under each exercise and modes, also introduction section “How to use Joy ON Kehel”.

Create your Joy ON Kehel account, so, your data can be saved in “My Calendar”. (See more about how to create your account in the main page of user help).

After reading all information and trying “How to use Joy ON Kehel” mode, you will know a bit more on how to start and how to place the device or what are the recommended position for exercising.

You may also visit our blog, where our Physical Therapist that we have on staff posts useful articles and videos related to pelvic floor exercises and Joy ON Kehel device: https://us.joyontoys.com/en/blog/

Once you have read the important information you should start with the ‘Assessment mode’ as this is the best tool to see the current status of your pelvic floor.

The results will be divided in two categories: Grip and Contraction speed with colorful graphs that present your current level:

  • Green (Strong)
  • Yellow (Normal)
  • Red (Weak)

Your goal for the long run should be to have them all in green. But it depends on your starting point as well, and that is why we are not able to give you a specific number that would identify your results as good or bad.

Since the results are divided into the two kinds of exercises, you can also practice more in those that the results are weaker (Red and Yellow graphs). This way you will know which game (grip or contraction speed) is more important to play first!

After the assessment mode, we recommend you practice in the “Manual Training mode” where by clicking on the “Timer” you can create your own custom workout. This is highly recommended, if you are not able to play the games yet.

If you fell that you are ready to move to the next level – try to play the games (Grip & Contraction Speed exercises).

It is very important to read the instructions before you click on “start” as each game has different rules and you may fail not because of the weak pelvic floor muscles but because you are not following the game rules.

The difference between the games is that in the contraction speed exercise you are supposed to contract and relax quickly (this exercise is strongly advisable for women, who have bladder problems, for example when coughing and not being able to hold it).

While In the grip exercise, you are practicing on holding the contraction for longer (if your pelvic muscle is quite weak, you may not be feeling when you stop contracting).

‘My Calendar’ was created so you could track and register your data easier.

Please make sure you are logged in to your Joy ON Account and have internet connection, otherwise your data will not be registered.

The key is to be constant, and to see in the graphs how you are improving (going up on the graphs). Managing to get better results.

We recommend that you use Kehel at least three times a week. Pelvic floor specialists recommend doing Kegel exercises at least once a day, so if you want to use your Kehel even more, that´s extraordinary! Try to do at least 15-20 minutes per session. Usually, after 2-5 weeks you might start to feel the difference!

The most important thing is to include Kehel into your daily routine and listen to your body!

If you are getting sore, cut back on the length of time you are exercising until your body is ready to progress. It’s also ok to take a day or two off if you need it.

There are 4 massages patterns: Steady, Wave, Intermittent and Crescendo.

Vibration intensity can be adjusted within each pattern, by clicking + and -.

About Kegel exercises

The pelvic floor is a strong arrangement of muscles that extends like a hammock between your pubic bone and your tailbone. When healthy and toned, they lift up your pelvic organs for a solid core and great control.

In case that you aren’t sure what it feels like to exercise your pelvic floor, try stopping yourself from peeing midstream. This muscle movement is what you have to ace.

When exercising, remember:

• Your midsection, hips and thighs should be relaxed and try not to hold your breath

• Take a deep breath to relax and as you breathe out squeeze your pelvic floor inwards and upwards

• Do the exercises in a comfortable position. Lying down on your back, with your body relaxed and legs bent at the knees is the recommended position for beginners.

To make sure you are exercising the pelvic muscles correctly, you can also try the finger test: lie on your back and insert one or two fingers into your vagina. When you contract your pelvic muscles, you should feel a slight squeeze around your fingers.

If you’re still experiencing difficulty, some simple visualization exercises may help:

1) Zip Visualization: Lying on your back with your knees bent, envision you are zipping upwards from the very centre of the space between your legs towards your navel.

2) Marble Visualization:  Lying on your back with your knees bent, visualize the area around your vagina. Envision you are utilizing these muscles to pull a marble all the way up your vagina. As you relax, imagine the marble rolling out.

How often should I use Kehel?

As with all exercise, the key is to be constant.

We recommend that you use Kehel at least 3 times a week.

Try to do at least 15-20 minutes per session.

Usually, after 2-3 weeks you might start to feel the difference!

Pelvic floor specialists recommend doing Kegel exercises at least once a day, so if you want to use your Kehel even more, that’s extraordinary!

The most important thing is to include Kehel into your daily routine.

What are good/bad results?

Many women asking what are good and what are bed results, or how fast can you tell the difference. The truth is that there are no good or bad results, neither the exact time table how fast can you see the it.

As every woman is different, and many factors can affect the result numbers and the time table for feeling the improvement.

Factors such as:

  • how weak/strong your pelvic muscles are at the moment
  • how many times & how long you exercise every week/day
  • if you are doing the exercises correctly
  • have you given birth and how it went?
  • how many times you gave birth?
  • if you ever had a surgery or pelvic floor issues etc.

If you are very serious about this and must know your current pelvic floor level and status, please see the physical therapist who will take into consideration all the factors while examining you and help you to define specifically what numbers are good or bad for you.

Like all exercises, pelvic floor exercises are most effective when individually tailored and monitored. Depending on where you live, it might be a clinic we cooperate with, that we can refer you to or you could let your PT contact us and we can provide with samples.

As with all exercise, the key is to be constant and make sure you see the improvement.

It’s also ok to take a day or two off if you need it.

Just remember – fewer good squeezes are better than a lot of halfhearted ones!

If you are not sure that you are doing the squeezes right, or if you do not see a change in symptoms after 2 months, ask for help from your doctor, physiotherapist, or continence nurse.

Get familiar with pelvic muscles

Please note that sometimes women have difficulty locating and using their pelvic floor muscles. This is normal and it can take some practice to learn how.

In case you haven’t done so yet, please read “How to exercise” and “Kehel correct position” articles.

Try to do the finger test a couple of times to get familiar with your muscles.

The steady Massage mode (Massage > Click on Steady) is an excellent mechanism to learn which muscles to contract.
Use it initially to stimulate your pelvic floor muscles and contract them at the same time.

You can turn it on and off by clicking on the Soft icon or adjust the vibration intensity by clicking on + and -.

Another suggestion to get familiar with your pelvic muscles and correct position is that you go to Manual training, Click on Start, then Click on Timer, and you select a Long Contraction Time (60 Seconds or more), and then you can try different positions until you find the right one.

You can also mute if you desire the audio guide and vibration notification.

Once you get familiar you can move to the exercises or “play” around with the timer with different contraction times and rest times.

The Manual Training Mode is also the perfect mode to start exercising if you have a very weak pelvic floor muscle contraction as the Grip Exercises and Contraction Speed Exercises might be a bit difficult in the beginning.

In this mode you will be able (by clicking on the timer) to adjust the contraction time and rest time and get stronger and ready for the other exercises! Read more in section ‘Can’t play the games as the muscles are too weak’

If you are still having difficulty or if you want to make 100% sure that you are performing your Kegel pelvic floor contractions properly is a good idea that you work with a pelvic health physical therapist for at least one session with your device.

Kehel position

Kehel should be positioned inside your vagina, having at least 2 cm from the vaginal opening to the lower ball.

Spheres should rest over your pelvic floor muscle.

The exact distance from the vaginal opening to the pelvic floor muscle differs from woman to woman, but Kehel should be positioned in a similar way as a tampon.

Do not insert the antenna part of the device into the vagina, it will be easier for you to remove the balls when you finish the exercises.

For more comfort, use a condom or apply lube on Kehel. We highly recommend that you use exclusively water-based lubricants, which are very common and easy to find.

Lying down on your back, with your body relaxed and legs bent at the knees, focus on contracting the vaginal and pelvic muscles.

You can also do the exercises sitting down or standing, but for beginners it will be easier to do them lying down.

Your midsection, hips and thighs should be relaxed while practicing. In order to achieve consistent results, try to exercise in the same position each time.

Kehel does not feel comfortable

Both balls of Kehel should be positioned completely inside your vagina, having at least 2 cm from the vaginal opening to the lower ball.

If you pull the antenna (the long tail) very gently, there should be a slight resistance against the vaginal wall. It is normal that you will be able to feel Kehel inside.

For more comfort, use a condom or apply lube on Kehel. We highly recommend that you use exclusively water-based lubricants, which are very common and easy to find.

If you experience pain or extreme discomfort during insertion or while exercising, please stop immediately.

A few women might find that Kehel is not the right product for them.

It may be beneficial to talk to your medical professional who can advise how you should best do your pelvic floor exercises.

Please, do not hesitate to contact us if Kehel is not working as expected.

Kehel is too big

Many women are concerned that their vagina might be too small or too tight for intercourse or devices such as Kehel. The truth is, it’s not. Almost no vagina is too tight for it. Sometimes, however, you have to help prepare a bit more for penetration or using devices. In its unaroused state, the vagina is three to four inches long.

Furthermore, your vagina can go wider and longer than that. It also releases a natural lubricant, but we still advise to use lubricant for exercising with Kehel.

Physical Therapist suggest before inserting the Kehel, you use a test tube (or sample tube)  which you can find easily on the pharmacy and you put warm water on it, then put lube or Vaseline on the tube and you do U-shape massages in your vagina until it relaxes and you are able to fit the balls.

Furthermore, it is advisable for beginners to use lying down on your back position, with your body relaxed and legs bent at the knees.

Please read more suggestions on Joy ON Kehhel App under “How to use Joy ON Kehel”

Lastly, we suggest that you visit a physiotherapist and you check with her/him about your situation.

Can I use Kehel during pregnancy?

You can use Kehel during pregnancy as long as you are not suffering from any complications and have consulted regarding this with your doctor.

There are several symptoms that you may experience during pregnancy, and then there are several less common but more serious symptoms that can lead to a high-risk pregnancy.

We will have a brief discussion on some of these symptoms in our blog https://us.joyontoys.com/en/blog/ and how strengthening your pelvic floor muscles and core/abdomen can be beneficial.

As your pregnancy progresses your uterus increases in weight putting more pressure on your bladder, your pelvic floor muscles, and your connective tissues such as tendons and ligaments in the pelvic area. The increased pressure and the weakening of the pelvic floor muscles from the added weight and stretching can result in pelvic floor disorders such as stress urinary incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse.

Exercise in general, but especially the core and pelvic floor muscles can help tremendously during pregnancy and labor. Pelvic floor muscle training during pregnancy is recommended to prevent or reduce pelvic floor problems during or following childbirth.

The Kehel can help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles to prepare you for pregnancy and childbirth. With the use of the Kehel, you are able to monitor your progress with pelvic floor muscle strengthening, which is extremely useful.

However, if you are experiencing any of the high-risk pregnancy symptoms, it may not be advised to insert the Kehel. If you are cleaning the Kehel properly and according to the instructions, you should be able to decrease the risk of infection.

It is recommended that you speak with your Obstetrician regarding the use of the Kehel during pregnancy.

Can I use Kehel device is I have IUD (coil)

Yes, you can use Your Kehel with an IUD (or coil), unless you fell it could be an issue for you, we would advise to contact your gynecologist and consult about this matter.

The tail of the Kehel is the part that connects to your device, and this remains on the outside. The Kehel is completely covered in medical grade silicone with no exposed parts and so is safe to use with the coil.

My pressure sensor is not registering contraptions in the games (grip and contraction speed)

On very rare occasions the pressure sensor of Kehel might be defective.

HOW TO CHECK IT:

Go to the manual training mode, select a Long Contraction Time (60 Seconds or more) and press play.

Squeeze Kehel with your hand to verify it is getting your contractions.

Please Squeeze the ball that has the power button, as the pressure sensor is located in this ball.

If it is not registering the contractions properly, please fully charge Kehel, and if after full charge is still acting strange, please contact Customer Support at support@joyontoys.com (please indicate your order ID number).

The other and more probable possibility is that you are not exercising/using your muscles properly.

To perform the Kegel contraction, think about trying to stop the flow of urine or to not pass gas. It should be performed without contracting, or tightening the muscles in your legs, buttocks, or abdomen. This is an exercise in which no one else should be able to tell that you are contracting the muscles.

The soft Massage mode (Massage > Click on Soft) is an excellent mechanism to learn which muscles to contract. Use it initially to stimulate your pelvic floor muscles and contract them at the same time.

You can turn it on and off by clicking on the Soft icon or adjust the vibration intensity by clicking on + and -.

Another suggestion to get familiar with your pelvic muscles and correct position is that you go to Manual training:

Click on Start, then Click on Timer, and you select a Long Contraction Time (60 Seconds or more), and then you can try different positions until you find the right one.

You can also mute if you desire the audio guide and vibration notification. Once you get familiar you can move to the exercises or “play” around with the timer with different contraction times and rest times.

Our Physical Therapist on staff have prepared some suggestions for you for manual mode if your muscles are too weak to play the games, please see section ‘Can’t play the games as the muscles are too weak’

If you are still having difficulty or if you want to make 100% sure that you are performing your Kegel pelvic floor contractions properly is a good idea that you work with a pelvic health physical therapist for at least one session with your device.

Can’t play the games as the muscles are too weak

See the suggestions below from our Physical Therapist for using the ‘Manual mode’ on your Kehel to practice your contractions if you are too weak to play the games:

Initially set the contraction time to 5 seconds and the rest time to 10 seconds.
Perform 10 contractions while watching the display and noting the numbers to see if your contraction is getting stronger.

Try not to use your stomach or hip muscles when you contract your pelvic floor muscles and always remember to exhale as you contract.

Try counting out loud to be sure you are not holding your breath and remember that relaxation is as important as contraction. Be sure you are fully relaxing between each contraction.

-Use the massage mode to practice your contractions:

Using the “Steady” setting, tap the massager on for 4-5 seconds.
The massage will gently vibrate your pelvic floor, and you can use that feeling to help you locate which muscles to contract.

Count out loud for 5 seconds then turn off massager and rest and relax for 10 seconds.

Remember that relaxing is as important as contracting.
Repeat turning the massager on and off for 5 seconds as you contract to help tune you in to which muscles are the correct ones to contract.

As with all exercise, the key is to be constant.
We recommend that you use Kehel at least 3 times a week.
Pelvic floor specialists recommend doing Kegel exercises at least once a day
, so if you want to use your Kehel even more, that’s extraordinary!

Try to do at least 15-20 minutes per session.

The most important thing is to include Kehel into your daily routine and listen to your body!
If you are getting sore, cut back on the length of time you are exercising until your body is ready to progress. It’s also ok to take a day or two off if you need it.

What to do if Kehel is moving inside?

First of all, please read the instructions how to insert your Kehel.

If you inserted as per instructions but your Kehel is moving inside (which makes it difficult to record your contractions) please try to keep the same exercising position and the location of the device.

We would advise you to practice in manual training mode till you get tighter and after the device will not be moving as much, the results will be more accurate as well.

Another suggestion would be to try to hold your device antenna while exercising (just in the beginning until you get some positive results).

Why the APP is crashing?

Firstly, please make sure you have internet connection when you use Joy ON Kehel app. If your internet connection signal is weak, the app can crash.

Make sure you don’t have many different Apps opened at the same time on your phone.

If you do not have many apps opened on your phone and you are sure you have internet connection, try the following steps:

  1. Soft Reset

The first thing you do when you find that app keeps crashing is a “soft reset.” What this basically does is clears the memory by killing apps and gives you a head start. This is what you do to do a soft reset:

How to Restart-Reboot your iPhone:

  • Press the home and power buttons simultaneously
  • The slide to turn off the iPhone comes up but do nothing but hold the buttons down
  • The iPhone powers down with the screen going blank. Keep holding the buttons still and then the iPhone reboots with the Apple logo coming up on the screen
  • That’s it. Now try out the new app that kept crashing before. In most cases, your problem is solved.

How to perform a hard reset for Android:

  • Turn off your device.
  • Hold the power button and the volume down button simultaneously until you get the Androidbootloader menu.
  • Inthe bootloader menu you use the volume buttons to toggle through the different options and the power button to enter/select.
  • Choose the option “Recovery Mode.”

If the soft reset did not help, please try to clear memory:

  1. Clear Memory

We have a tendency to keep stuff on our phones with a ton of songs and videos (and even apps) and quite a lot of apps keep running in the background.

This eats up a lot of memory (not to forget, the battery too). And then when you try to open and run an existing app, it struggles to get some breathing space with all the choking apps running in the background along with it.
So, the phone puts the app out of its misery and crashes it.

You’ll need to do two things to clear things up.

For iPhone:

  • Double-press the home button to bring up the multi-task switching bar and then close all apps that are running in the background by swiping up each app. After this, try the app.
  • If it’s a storage issue, try removing a bunch of songs that you usually skip whenever it comes up on the playlist. Or a bunch of videos that you’ve not seen in ages. This will free up some space that can turn out to be helpful for the app not to crash.

For Android:

  • Please google “How to Close Background Apps in Android – and write the model of your phone.

Please be aware that not all Androids has this function done in the same way.

  • If it’s a storage issue, try removing a bunch of songs that you usually skip whenever it comes up on the playlist. Or a bunch of videos that you’ve not seen in ages. This will free up some space that can turn out to be helpful for the app not to crash.

Kehel froze – vibrating and can not to turn it off

This can happen if your device is not fully charged.

If you cannot turn off your Kehel and the LED light is on/or your device is kept on vibrating just plug the charging pin firmly in and charge your device (it should become responsive immediately).

Please note that Kehel can only be turn off if it is not paired with your mobile device. If it is paired, you will need to unpair it in the App by clicking the Kehel icon in the top right corner of the Exercises or Massage screens.

Kehel can’t connect to my Smartphone

Kehel connects to your phone using Bluetooth. Bluetooth version of your smartphone should be 4.0 or higher!

You can pair your Kehel device only via Kehel App (do not try to pair it via phone settings – under Bluetooth). Only make sure the Bluetooth is activated on your phone.

If your phone is Android, please make sure GPS on your phone is set as High accuracy, otherwise you will not be able to pair your Kehel. Go to Settings – Additional Settings – Privacy – Location – and choose “High Accuracy”

Also, on your Android phone go to the Settings – apps – (in the top search line) you search ‘Kehel’ and ‘app permissions’ – and make sure that  ‘LOCATION’ is  activated.

  • Verify Bluetooth is activated on your smartphone and that Kehel is fully charged (Check “How to charge Kehel”) To pair Kehel with your device, follow the steps mentioned under “Pair Kehel with APP”
  • If Bluetooth is turned on, and you still can’t pair your Kehel, try closing the App completely and restarting it.
  • Once it restarts, try to place your Kehel about 20 cm from your phone and try to connect again.
  • Restart your phone and close the Bluetooth and open again. Sometimes Android and Apple devices have trouble with the Bluetooth.
  • Uninstall and Install the app again
  • Do not have many apps opened on your Smartphone

If your issue Is still not solved, please contact Customer Support at support@joyontoys.com (please indicate your order ID number)

Kehel is connected but not working

In case Kehel is connected but not working properly, follow the next suggested steps:

  • Make sure your Kehel is fully charged (Check “How to charge Kehel”)
  • Disconnect your Kehel pressing on the Kehel icon in the top right corner of the home screen (Exercises).
  • Manually restart Kehel by pressing the power button for 5 seconds to turn off, and for another 5 seconds to turn on (until you feel a short vibration).
  • Close then the application completely and open it again, then connect again.

Delete and install Kehel app again

Kehel doesn’t get squeezed

The smart pressure sensor is located on the ball with the power button and the motor, which gives the vibration, is located in the other ball.

  • If your Kehel does not vibrating, please make sure you have fully charged it before using.
  • Try to restart the phone, and close Bluetooth and open again. Sometimes Android and Apple devices have trouble with the Bluetooth.
  • Please delete other Bluetooth devices that you have linked (in case you have them) and try again. Sometimes other Bluetooth devices can cause interference problems.
  • Uninstall and Install again the app.

If the issue is not solved, please contact Customer Support team at support@joyontoys.com (please indicate your order ID number)

Why the GPS Required for Joy ON Kehel App

For the Android system above 7.0, you need to turn on GPS when using Bluetooth.

The location permission is now a request from a Google, in order to pair the phone with other Bluetooth devices but in Joy ON App we don’t have access to your location and data, so the privacy is guaranteed.

Cleaning and maintenance

The correct cleaning and maintenance will extend the lifetime of your Kehel.

Lubricant: We highly recommend that you use exclusively water-based lubricants, which are very common and easy to find.
Do not use silicone or oil-based lubricants, Vaseline or moisturizing creams as they might expose you to significant irritations and cause irreparable damages to your Kehel.

Cleaning and disinfection: before the first use, wash Kehel with plenty of cold or warm water using a neutral soap.
IMPORTANT: water temperature shouldn’t be over 40oC.

After using Kehel, wash it again and keep it perfectly dry.

Storage: keep your Kehel in a fresh and ventilated place. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep away from children. In the original package, you will find an ideal cover for storing it and protecting it from dust and lint.

Different Kehel Models

Lilith

How should I clean my Lilith?

Before and after use, you should clean the Lilith with plenty of cold water and neutral or antibacterial soap. Don’t use any kind of perfumed soap or anything that is not neutral. Don’t clean the Lilith with water above 40ºC. After washing, don’t store the Lilith if it is still wet or has any soapy residue. Once it is completely dry, we recommend to keep the Lilith in the cover provided in the original package.

Is it recommended to use Lilith with low battery?

No. Using the device without the recommended battery charge (3-4 hours) negatively affects the life span of the battery and may cause damage to your Lilith.

What kind of lubricant is suitable for Lilith?

It is very important that the lubricant is water-based. Do not use silicon-based lubricants. Under no circumstances should you use vaseline or moisturizing cream as they can cause an abrasive effect and produces serious irritations.

What’s the battery life of Lilith?

After the full charge (X hours), Lilith operates at full capacity for 2.5 hours depending on the vibration intensity.
